THE Magic Kingdom Itinerary
I have been very blessed to have been able to grow up going to Disney world every year. And now to be able to take my kiddos to Disney each year as well! Throughout the years, we have tried going through the parks every way imaginable to find the best system. Some ways worked okay, others were terrible. The goal is to be able to enjoy the most the parks have to offer without feeling like you’re just running from one thing to the next. To help you with this goal, I’ve have put together the ultimate itinerary for Magic Kingdom!
Magic Kingdom is the most magical but overwhelming park that Disney has to offer. There are an abundance of rides for people of all ages. The worst mistake you can make is chasing wait times! It can be tempting to see low wait times on your My Disney Experience app and want to run to the next lowest wait. But when you do this, you end up running back and forth across the park and by noon, you will be exhausted! Trust me, I’ve been there and done that.
A perk of my itinerary is that it’s flexible. It’s not stressful. And most importantly, it is super fantastic for kids! My kiddos are most “fresh” first thing in the morning and are obviously excited to hop on some rides. If I spent the whole morning dragging them around to roller coasters that they couldn’t ride (or were afraid of) then had them wait in long lines for their rides… well, that would just be a big bummer and not fair to them. My itinerary gets your kiddos right onto the rides they love with a shorter wait leaving you with plenty of time for roller coasters later!
The Game Plan:
Currently, due to Covid, Disney is changing their park hours by the month. So it’s important to check the times when preparing for your trip. No matter what time the park opens, plan to get to the Magic Kingdom parking lot 45 minutes in advance. I have timed it, and it takes approximately this long just to make it from the parking lot to the Magic Kingdom entrance. This will get you to the park at Rope Drop (opening ceremony) which usually includes a special morning greeting from characters!
Here is the order to start riding rides:
Fantasyland-
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Dumbo
- Barnstormer
- Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid
-Here we like to break for a snack at Gaston’s Tavern which is right next to The Little Mermaid ride. Make sure to try the grey stuff, it’s delicious! 😉
They also offer phenomenal cinnamon rolls and a specialty drink called Lefou’s Brew!
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- The Haunted Mansion
- It’s a Small World
-Break for lunch! We love eating at the Pinocchio Village Haus, but feel free to pick any place you like! - Jungle Cruise
- Aladdin’s Magic Carpet
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Splash Mountain
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Mad Tea Party
- Space Mountain
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Then we end the evening with dinner at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe! There are a few rides that we skip such as the Astro Orbiter and the Tomorrowland Speedway. These rides, in our opinion, aren’t the most fun so we skip them. If there are any rides listed that aren’t your favorite then feel free to skip them as well! This list is pretty flexible once you get past the first 7 rides listed. You can go to Tomorrowland before Adventureland if you want to. You can skip Splash Mountain if it’s a cold day. Make sure to plan your meals ahead to figure out which place sounds most yummy for your family.
This is just a masterplan of guidelines to help you get going!
To make it easiest on you, take a screenshot of the template below or save it to your device! I like to set it as my screensaver while in the parks for easy access.

This is great!! I don’t see the parades listed. Do you skip those usually? If not, when is the best time to watch one of them?

During covid, all parades are cancelled. For normal park times though, we always watch the afternoon parade at 2 pm when we come out of lunch. We love to watch it right next to Splash Mountain because that is where it begins 🙂 great question! I will update the post with this info!
