Meemaw’s Famous Ham
Everyone needs that no-fail recipe that you can always depend on. For me, that’s my Meemaw’s ham. It’s perfect for every occasion and the easiest meal you will ever make.
Taking food to a family? Ham.
Church luncheon? Ham.
Feeding a crowd? Ham.
Hungry? Ham.
Seriously! You just can’t go wrong with this recipe. It freezes well too, so if you have an abundance of leftovers just toss them in a freezer safe bag/container and leave them in the freezer for later. The leftovers are also great on biscuits for breakfast. It tastes just as great reheated the next day or even just eaten cold!
Did I also mention how amazingly juicy, tender, and delicious the ham is? The flavor is out of this world and unlike any baked ham you have ever had before! *Bonus* your house will smell divine as its baking!
Ingredients:
- One smoked ham butt (or shank portion)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 275. Wrap your ham four times in aluminum foil and place in a large casserole dish. Place your ham in oven and bake for 10 to 11 hours. I usually do this overnight so it’s ready for the next day! When it’s finished baking, remove and let cool slightly. Unwrap and shred with two forks. Serve right away or save and reheat for later.
A few of my favorite sides to have with this are my homemade applesauce, steamed corn, and dinner rolls!
Enjoy!
