First Successful Sourdough Loaf
Recently, I have heard more and more about how wonderful homemade sourdough bread can be. It’s easier to digest, dairy free, and cheap to make yourself. Sounds pretty great, right? I certainly think so!
I dove in head first, excited to take on a new challenge, and began my own sourdough starter. How hard could it be? It seemed easy enough to me and all was going well until I baked my first loaf. And it totally failed. The bread didn’t even rise an inch. So, back to the drawing board!
Thankfully, I had a sweet follower reach out to me on instagram and gave me some very helpful tips. It seemed as though my starter was good, it just wasn’t strong enough. After tweaking some things and making sure my starter was stronger, I tried again. This time though, I went with a simpler recipe to follow.
And SUCCESS!
The bread turned out light and soft, with a slight bite from the crust. We paired it with soup and the combo was divine. I am now hooked! The whole process of sourdough is fascinating and it’s such a great feeling to eat something homemade.
I’m definitely no pro yet, as I have only made one thing. But I am very excited to try ALL the sourdough recipes and share them with you!
